It’s gotta be a record that I’ve had a blog this long and haven’t drug out my soapbox yet, but <screeeeeechhhhhh> here we go – brace yourself for an #angrymomopinion

How many of you had to pee outside when you were little? I’m talking under the age of 12.  Maybe on a road trip? Headed home from a relative’s house on the other side of town?  Maybe you thought you could make it but you couldn’t? Or your parent’s stopped for you to go and Momma said “NOPE, we ain’t goin in there! It’s nasty!”, or there was no restroom at all?

CHECK OUT THIS MESS:
(If you don’t want to read it, a 10 year old boy got out of his Mom’s car and peed behind it because his sister said where they were there was no restroom.  Officer saw him, asked him about it, talked to Mom who scolded her son and Officer said she “handled it like a mom” and was going to send them on their way with a warning. THEN several other officers showed up moments later, and Mom said a lieutenant on the scene said the little boy had to go to jail for his actions. AND HE DID.)

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? No restroom, so he went behind to car to get out of sight and did what he had to do.  Mom apparently didn’t see what was happening, but you know what? I DON’T EVEN CARE. Do you KNOW how many times I told my little boy to do that? And YES, 10 years old is STILL a little boy.

BUT EVEN IF IT ISN’T. Do you know how many ADULTS I know have found themselves in the same situation and had to resort to the same thing? (And no, not when they were drinking – but I see you, too 😏) Hell, I’m not even gonna TELL YOU how many times on road trips it’s almost come to that.

WHO RESPONDS like this?? These little tales of learning and growing are supposed to be memories to share and remember as our kids (and friends) get older.  Little gems of harmless embarrassment.  Instead, this little fella now has a terrifying memory of going to jail.

Shame on that lieutenant. THANKFULLY the department released a statement saying the situation was an “error in judgement” and “Mistakes like this are a reminder in this profession as to the continual need for training and refreshers on the various topics that we encounter each day.”

And if your response is “Bet he never pees outside again”? I hope you get bit by a tick.
