Nancy Wilson Recalls Rock Changing: “It’s Nirvana Now and They’re Gonna Hate Us.”

In a new interview, Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson recalls how it felt when the world of rock was changing and grunge was taking over. Talking with New & Approved, Wilson revealed that she thought music fans would hate Heart with the emergence of grunge. “After the ’80s, we came back to our hometown of Seattle, we thought, ‘Oh, the whole style of rock has changed,” Nancy said. “It’s Nirvana now, it’s Soundgarden, Screaming Trees, it’s Alice in Chains, and it’s Pearl Jam, and they’re gonna hate us.’ Because we were the MTV darlings with the big hair and corsets and all that stuff – and really big hair.” After attending a wake for Mother Love Bone’s Andrew Wood, Wilson found that “There was not an attitude among them.”
