Okay, we were getting flu shots with Kelly from the HyVee Pharmacy, so it’s not nearly as much fun as pictures of us going to the bar. Still, flu shots are pretty important. I can’t believe it is already flu season, but it’s October and flu season runs from October to May, yeah May. That’s seven months! As hard as I try, I know I am not going to be perfect about washing my hands or not touching my face every time I come into contact with a doorknob or some other surface that has flu germs on it for the next seven months. Most of the time you don’t even know that you’ve touched something that’s covered in germs. It just makes sense to get a flu shot!  It seems like the flu is common and it’s not that big of a deal, but your flu shot protects not only you but the people around you who are vulnerable to serious flu illness. I’m talking about pregnant women, kids, the elderly and people with chronic health issues. It’s easy to swing into the pharmacy at HyVee and get a flu shot. You don’t need an appointment and it only takes a few minutes, no longer than it takes to fill a prescription. After you’re done getting your shot you can go to the wine and spirits department and buy yourself a different kind of shot as a reward!
